Plastic waste is increasing day by day and affecting the environment<\/p>\n

Plastic products have changed people’s lives, but with it comes a series of consequences that affect the living environment of people that we do not care about.<\/p>\n

WHAT HAPPENED???<\/strong><\/p>\n

1933: Discovery of plastic<\/strong>
\nPolyethylene, the most commonly used plastic, was first created by accident at a chemical plant in Northwich, England.<\/p>\n

1965: Patented<\/strong>
\nPatented one-piece Polyethylene shopping bag, plastic bag is rapidly replacing fabric in Europe.<\/p>\n

1979: Widely used<\/strong>
\nPlastic bags control 80% of the European market, which is widely introduced to the United States.<\/p>\n

1982: Replacing paper bags<\/strong>
\nTwo major supermarket chains in the US, Safeway and Kroger, use plastic bags. Plastic bags become a trend and almost replace paper bags<\/p>\n

1997: Detecting plastic waste<\/strong>
\nSailor and researcher Charles Moore discovered the largest trash can in the Pacific Ocean, containing a huge amount of plastic waste, threatening marine life.<\/p>\n

2002: Ban<\/strong>
\nBangladesh – The first country to ban thin plastic bags, after it was discovered that this type of garbage clogs drainage systems, causing catastrophic floods.<\/p>\n

2011: The world uses 1 million plastic bags every minute<\/strong><\/p>\n

2018: the world uses 10 million plastic bags every minute<\/strong><\/p>\n

PLASTIC WASTE EVERYWHERE<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 13 million tons of plastic waste is dumped into the ocean every year, accounting for 50% of marine litter<\/p>\n

–\u00a0The amount of plastic waste each year can cover 4 times the surface of the earth<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Many types of plastic can last up to 500 years in the environment<\/p>\n

– Recycling plastic takes 88% less energy than producing new<\/p>\n

WHAT IN VIETNAM?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

On average, Vietnamese people generate 1.2kg of waste per day x 100 million people = 120,000 tons per day.<\/p>\n

Of which 16% is plastic waste–> every day nearly 19,000 tons of plastic waste is discharged in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

Do you need supermarket nylon bags? Do you\u00a0need\u00a0nylon bags,\u00a0plastic cups or straws from a milk tea shop? Do you reuse or dispose of nylon bags?<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

TIPS FOR EVERYONE<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

– Use a shopping basket or biodegradable bag or if you like to use your old shirt to make a shopping bag is also very good.<\/em>
\n– Use paper cups and dishes instead of disposable plastic dishes<\/em>
\n– Use paper straws, bamboo, stainless steel, rice flour,… instead<\/em>
\n– Always bring your own water bottle (glasses, cups) to use or buy water<\/em>
\n– Use glass containers, plastic containers to preserve food and use it to bring rice to work.<\/em>
\n– Bring a set of travel-sized bottles when traveling, going to practice, going swimming.. in lieu of packages of shampoo and shower gel available for sale.<\/em>
\n– Bring a personal toothbrush when traveling….<\/em><\/p>\n
